Hello,
I don't come here very often and I really should. This time last year I was a complete mess and couldn't remember/ imagine feeling like I do today. I just wanted to let people know that better times are ahead. I haven't got a magic wand, sadly, but I just wanted people to see something to give a little bit of comfort. I hope that I have.
Take care evryone.

That's really thoughtful and caring of you. I think it's natural enough that people who get better stop coming here....of course, that might lead those of us still here to imagine (sometimes) that no-one ever does get better! My CPN and others keep reminding me of that fact and sometimes I believe them.

I hope that this time next year I won't need to come here either....but I also hope I will be caring like you and drop by with a reassuring message of hope. People do get better.

Well done imdoingthebestican, for doing whatever it is that has made you feel much better (y) Can you share your secret?

Rest assured it doesn't matter if you visit MHF everyday or infrequently - it is good to hear you feel a little better, and nice that you took the time to let us all know

Thats fantastic news, imdoingthebestican, and may it continue. thank you for coming back with a positive story.
Here Here JD.

I think it would be really encouraging for people to remain in contact with the forum even when they feel better. Life is all about balance and particularly in forums like this there has to be seen both illness and health for us to get a perspective, hope and guidance.

best regards

Hello,
Again sorry for late reply.
I don't pretend to know the answer but I can say some of the things that I have done.
1) Meds for about a year but they took ages to "work" . I mean at least three months. (sorry not very comforting I know)
2) Talking to a lovely, dynamic psychotherapist who had very practical strategies who I still see.
3) Yoga and meditation. (I found the right class for me....I recommend going to lots. There are planty of rubbish ones/ ones that won't be what you are looking for)
4) Changing expectations of myself. Looking at what I am doing well(VEry hard to see at first....took lots of time)
5) Now raisng my standards in terms of the level of happiness that I am worthy of. (Rather than what I "have to" create for myself...i.e beginning to want the best for myself)
6) Eating well. (Kept a food diary and forced myself to eat breakfast and to plan my eating. Skipping meals is bad for my mental health!)
7) Some amazing friends and family.
I will post back if I think of anything else......
Take care.

hello again
thats fantastic advice for every one I think,
we must have een thinking of the the same thing as I have just found that site and was looking for a thread to post it in for information, but you have done it for me. :)

I found number 2: working with your psychologist.
I think this is so important to recognise whether you think your therapist is on the same wavelength and can empathise with you properly and not be afraid to change if you feel they do not understand, because it is not always that you are not explaining yourself it also to do with their lack of understanding and experiences as a therapist. and that in itself can be very stressful and frustrating.

again well done and thanks for sharing.
