my daughter has been having problems since the age of 8 ive been begging schools and doctors for help to run tests on her cause there has got to be a reason behind it all. behaviour specialist knows theres something wrong but dont know what so im not getting anywhere.shes 12 now and is getting worse. if i can give a few examples of her beahvior then maybe some of it will sound similar to someone on here and push me in the right direction.
shes seems to me that shes depressed will cry at the slighest thing then next minute will be running round the house screaming, laughing playing with our dogs. shes obssesive about things what someone has said of nothing importance it will eat away at her and wont let it drop till something else gets her attention like someone has died she dont know or what a girl in her class is doing.. at the moment im going through there is a little girl ghost in her bedroom she said shes only seen her the once but shes become quite obsessive asking me question about how this little girl died when i dont even know and get frustrated that i dont know. there has been a time about a year ago she said she was hearing voices telling her to do bad things which upset her. she's paranoid and very anxious. the school is concerened that shes falling behind because theres no communication coming from her they speak to her but she just stares at them. at school she wont mix with other children and is very quiet but at home she dont sit still shes always doing something, shes very forgetfull. and also not good at taking care of herself. ive gotta make sure she has a bath and change her clothes or she'll stay in them for a week. she wont leave my side, shes got to know where i am all the time. she will follow me into the garden, toilet everywhere. the only time she will leave my side is if she has our dog with her...1 thing she is not is naughty i have a high level of patience so i can handle her but shes very aggressive to her dad but never voilent....she used to have nightmares, cant tell the difference between fact/fiction. and she'll just shout random things out the blue. like in the back of my car she was quiet so i knew she was in a world of her own. and wrong timing for this poor man she shouted out the blue out the window "u fat b" then cried after....its not like this all the time its balanced out will her being silly and giggly then she'll go quiet and the sadness is back ive told all this to the doctor but he just keeps referring her to saucepans and she wont talk to them.

kittyclaire,
I would suggest looking at this thread and related threads and posts made by this user; hopefully you can find helpful information there and know you're not alone in this.
Much luck and the best to you and your daughter.
You will find help and information; don't worry.
Here is one link: http://www.mentalhealthforum.net/forum/showthread.php?t=1645
I hope this helps somewhat. I personally don't believe in heavy duty medications; talk therapy would probably be much better, but please talk with a child psychologist/psychiatrist or therapist yourself and explain all that you've posted here.
Once your daughter finds someone she's comfortable with I'm sure you both will feel much better.
take care and all the best to you.

that sounds very much like me as a child. scarily so

get her in to see someone, keep pushing until you get someone competent, please for her sake do not leave it.

i got misdiagnosed with adhd as a child and it has taken them ten years (since I was 12) to get to this diagnosis and only now is it starting to get better. my mum and dad are the most amazing parents in the world, but they assumed it was a behavioural issue rather than a physiological.

please push on her behalf, i grew up in australia so can only recommend good doctors there...but i do know some good ones in london too

it's not normal, it's not behavioural and it's not her fault either by the sounds xx

Hello Kitty...
Rabina...
And...
Aussiegirl...
Mirror...
What i think...
Help...in understanding...is such a way to go...
Please...
Seek... the help...you feel...
As...
Its your child...
A very special little one too...
‘voice hearers’...are having...a better hearing these days...
without doping up to the eye balls...
i...like ausiegirl...
and...
feel...
very sure...
many...
was...a lost cause to my world...
teachers....often slapping my fingers...back to this reality...
my world...was.. a lonely world...
and...
sometimes very confusing...
to those that didn’t belong to it...
my animals...like your wee one...
were part of it...
my world...was...their involvement too...
my spiritual friends...
talked frequently...
but...i at the time...
picked it up as my own thoughts...
i knew...they were there...
but...due...to learning’s of elders...
thought...this is not known to them...
so i began my secrets...
my secrets...
became...
my world...
of illusion...
sadly...
man...
didn’t appreciate...that...illusion...
Somehow...
I must have known...
And..
Became very withdrawn to society...
I do say...
Sadly i opened only to the trust...
Of...
Others knowing...
I now...
Do mediumship...
And help many...
With bereavements...
And...
Simply...
Showing a little empathy compassion...
And...
If ...
I feel...
That their acceptance...
Of...
‘voice’...
To me...
Is...
Ok...or....sits with them...
I carry on ...with what...
Some would say...delusion...
But...
Not...to the sitter...
They are very overwhelmed...
With the accurate..
Description...of...their loved ones...
Your child...
Is nurturing...
Self beautifully...
It is the outsiders...
Who don’t share the illusion...
That worry...

Now...
Kitty...
For your wee one to continue...
In life style of this day...
It is a sadness...
We do have to seek help...
I have seen many doctors...
And...
Simply say...
If one doesn’t sit right...
Get rid of them...
There are many there...
And...
To you kitty i take my hat off...too
You sound...a very caring mum...
Bless you...

i few things rang true with our sitiuation, my dd was very much like yours, she is now 22 and was diagnosed with bp1 rapid cycle.
i knew something was wrong for many years, but couldnt put my finger on it, or explain to anyone
my advice is to keep a diary, of everything, food, sleep moods, etc
at the very least, you will have a record to produce to the dr's
you will have to very strong, and keep trying to get the best help, its not easy so im wishing the very best of luck x

She doesn't sound unlike many 12 year old girls I know. It may be her teenage hormones raging around her body.

I read somewhere that it is not uncommon for children to hear 'voices' apparently, many of them have imaginary friends. It is also not uncommon for them to misinterpret thoughts as voices, my thoughts can be pretty loud and have a character, almost like when I am reading a book, I can hear the voice of the characters.

At 12 I was frightened of ghosts, but now I realise I was incredibly anxious, it was a focus for my anxieties, not the cause.

Perhaps it is worth trying to separate what could be teenage angst, whether something is worrying her...it could be the school work is getting more difficult or that she is being bullied...and whether these 'voices' are a current issue.

At 12 the world can suddenly become ridden with insecurities and uncertainties, things that may have been certain in her life may not feel that way to her now, perhaps this is what the death obsession is about, perhaps she is worried about death or her own mortality or change.

They would be the routes I would go down before trying to put a label on it, and I apologise if you have already gone through all this before. :)
