Would masking the voices help?

I heard that one voices hearer used multiple radios set on different talk shows to mask the voices. Apparently this allowed the voices hearer to "de-couple" from the voices because the voices became just one more voice in a jumble of voices.

This could be recorded and taken with the voice hearer as they move about their business using an MP3 player.

I have found that people who hear voices have found techniques like the one you describe as being useful, but mainly in the short term. Longer term techniques involve engaging with the voices to find out more about the messages they convey and developing way of accepting them as part of yourself - not an easy journey but it has proved effective in helping people to recover from overpowering oices.

Accepting starts in the way in which one changes one thoughts about the voices. Instead of interpreting them as a sign of madness, learning to see them as a possibility to cope with and as a meaningful experience.

Professor Marius Romme who co founded the Hearing voices movement wrote an interesting article about this based on interviews with 50 people who hear voices and who have recovered. You can read it here

Yes, you can mask the voices and even be ridden of the voices with radios and televisions; it is very possible; I myself have done this with an external voice. A voice heard with my ears.
I've placed televisions in the exact location from where the voice speaks and it stops it completely. Also, radios whether music or talk show can have the same affect, but TV's seem to work better for me. Try it all.

I myself have had good luck with running my music through a echo filter to stop the voices. Not sure exactly why it works.
