I have had a problem which has arisen over the last few weeks. I keep seeing 'things' in my peripheral vision. I feel quite startled, but when I turn my head there's nothing there. It's quite scary. It doesn't happen when I am sitting down, but when I am walking round the house. I'm afraid it is some kind of monster.

i hope it is not psychosis as the rispiridone I was on was very detrimental to my physical health.

I remember reading that that happens to completely normal people as well, so perhaps you shouldn't worry about it just yet? As long as there are no voices you need clear visual hallucinations and a couple of other symptoms to qualify for psychosis I believe.

It happens to me all the time Christobel, especially when I am feeling paranoid.

Yeah same with me. It was worse before - but only last night I thought something was moving around my bedroom. I think is stress induced. I am under stress because of the voices - can't relax.

I think you might have something there. I have always been susceptible to stress-related problems, and have a stressful event looming on the horizon.

Thats probably it. You are probably passed psychosis (no offense) but yeah stress can do weird things to how we interpret normal life.

Just been for an exhaustive eye test lasting an hour and a half. The optician couldn't find anything wrong but did say it could be hallucinations. I am going to just see how it develops. My husband has said he is going to step in and shoulder things so I won't be under so much stress.

I don't mind seeing little things, it's the 'things' as big as me I'm afraid of! :)

Rang the duty desk yesterday but my psychiatrist hasn't rang me back yet. I've made a gp appointment but it's not till the end of the month.

Last night I i turned over in bed and there was a horrifying monster laying next to me. I was petrified! (It wasn't my husband as he is a dear, and lies the other side. I thought if I could turn my back on it, it would go away, and I could sense that happening. At the moment I'm taking some Lorazapam.

Feeling scared! :(

Sounds really bad. Try and stay calm. You have the insight to have seen this coming. You know it is not real just keep saying that to yourself. If it gets too bad go to the hospital to speak to the on duty pdoc.
good luck

I hate waiting for a phone call. I have decided that if my pdoc doesn't ring I shall write her a letter and post it tomorrow.

While I have been waiting I have (perhaps unwisely) been looking up what DSM 5 says about schizoaffective disorder, but I think it's written so that ordinary people can't understand. :)
