goodness knows!
Firstly it has to be my dad...he encouraged me to pursue my education, though in wanting the best,
his anxieties often transferred on to me.

The book, 'Lord of the Flies' by William Golding.

Ghandi.

...illusion can influence....

Several people have been great influences, but they differ because of the aspects of life involved:

Dad
My French schoolmaster
Winston Churchill (flawed but a brilliant orator and Statesman)
Anwar Sadat
........................... and many other friends and colleagues who not actually inspired but
motivated me to become who I am today(y)

I think your making a number of assumptions about me Stiofain that really aren't fair or true.??

It obviously seems I've upset you in some way or that you dislike me for some reason.

I know people say "Well,You can't please everybody can you??" but in my life I've always had to deal with people who for some reason make huge assumptions about me and have had a detrimental effect on my life.

Remember I've got feelings too Stiofain.

Maybe you don't believe I'm or have been genuinely Ill.

You obviously have a right to that assumption but remember that it is only an assumption.

I try not to make Judgements about people on here because I despise some of the people in my past for making judgements about me and know full well the harm it can do.

And as regards Milton Friedman why would you assume I like him??;for some reason your categorisng me as Right Wing Economically and that's completely Innacurate and Untrue.

I believe In a proper Mixed Economy,The Social Contract, and Supply and Demand and a fair safety net and State Intervention.

In fact people who are totally opposed to those things get me furious.

I have always made The tacticul Anti-Conservative vote depending on where I live at the time of UK General Elections.

I think your making a number of assumptions about me because I deeply oppose Militant Atheism.

Taking that stance does not qualify you as a Right winger in other areas.

In my opinion;Atheism leads to Libertarianism and from there to Non-State Intervention.

I'm fed up of explaining and justifying myself.

There's always somebody strong who's on my case and I'm so tired of it.

Your posts have'nt suprised me but just confirm what I suspect about certain aspects of Human Nature. ...

And I don't need to have a Crystal ball to see how you'll react to this Post-ie//-Self Pity...........:stomp:

Sometimes people make me feel soooooooooooo Tired and that everything's futile. ...

Yea - psychiatry, a diagnosis of paranoid schizophrenia & over 13 years of dependency on a neuroleptic drug - cigarettes as well, also very influential was a very large dose of LSD at the age of 16, & certain other binges on drugs; a 3 day bender on handfuls of E's & Ketamine on my 23rd birthday was particularly influencing - (feeling cynical).

Close family has been of major influence - Mum, Gran & Bro (& arshole step dad).

.... well that was quite a testimonial! Thank you for the reply..

I was rather hoping for a light-hearted debate on the benefits of 'deficit financing' versus 'monetarism'...Keynes's model has been applied in the UK on several occasions since the 1930's, as Friedman's was applied in the 1980's. Today QE takes us back to Keynes...as we will find out in 2-3 years time...it will have an impact. (worked in Banking for many years).

Agnosticism vs atheism vs belief....an interesting debate especially as Richard Dawkins and Rowan Williams had an involved discussion the other week. (No, I am most definetly not an atheist).

Political debate is not my theatre, I am apolitical and have been for over 40 years.

Now are you still up for a discussion on Economic Models?

Best wishes,

Stiofain:beermug::beermug:

Nobody can ever be completely Apolitical Stiofain.

I'd have thought you'd might have already known that.

...politics is a delusion suffered by the many...

Nobody can ever be completely Apolitical Stiofain.

I'd have thought you'd might have already known that.
...Yes they can be, see below:

. Having no interest or involvement in politics.

. The Queen is an apolitical figure.

. Having no political relevance or function.

. Politically neutral, unbiased, non-aligned, free from party politics

. I come to this task with an open mind, I am apolitical and independent of any political
party

Does that help you see what an apolitical person may claim to be?

Best wishes,

Stiofain :beermug::beermug:

Probably Not.

If you've got an interest in the treatment and care of those with Mental Illness for instance that's bound to get you thinking about certain areas of Politics and inevitably come to conclusions on it meaning you take certain sides.
