Hey Forum Community,

Recently I saw the documentary "Not Alone" on Netflix. And this documentary really resonated with me. Jacqueline Monetta, the director, created this documentary because she lost her best friend in high school to suicide and she wanted answers. To keep this part short she sat down with high schoolers and talked with them about suicide, depression and other mental illnesses. As I watched this doc I found myself to relate to some of these kids to some degree. Then there was this infographic that was shown a few times throughout the doc. It showed signs of suicide. Now I want to say first and foremost that I don't have any intentions of suicide. So I'll make that clear now. However, suicide links to depression, so 90% of the signs are exactly what I'm feeling right now. Now I had thoughts prior that I might have depression, but the signs confirm it. And I think I need to start somewhere. So I found this forum.

I need help guys. I'll say it now. I just don't have the energy to move forward and do the things I want to do and need to do to see success in life. I just honestly feel day in and out that I will always be the way I am. I truly feel this way (this will be long). Everyone tells me to just put one foot in front of the other and go on my merry way from there. But they don't just understand. Those simple words and simple steps simply don't resonate with me and my family's perception of life. I know my family loves and cares for me. But they don't see it.

I've shown signs and obviously shown cries for help regarding my problems. But they simply dismiss it. They simply do not know exactly what is going on. But I have a strong feeling I know what is going on in my head. So I'm doing what I know I do best. I try and figure things out myself. But something that is more difficult for me is asking for help. Coming to this forum, signing up and creating this post isn't something I normally do. I don't ask for help. But I need help guys and gals. And I feel there are people on this forum who can help me.

If you happened to read through this entire forum post then thank you. I hope to speak with you more in this thread,

This depression self-assessment might, if you complete it, give you a better idea about whether or not you are suffering from depression:

Scored pretty high on that. It basically gave me a confirmation that I already knew was coming. Just hoping someone here can help me out.

The first thing to do might be to see your doctor and request an assessment. If you are suffering from depression, as you suspect, there are ways to overcome this including the following: exercise, psychological therapy, and medication. You will need to find what works for you.
