after having yet another new pdoc, i'm still confused. He said I def was not suffering from borderline personality disorder. But he didn't want to diagnose me. He told me to google "personality disorders and mood disorders" to see what i thought.

But whats the difference between them

Hmm well, for me as i suffer from both its erally hard to tell the difference. Personality disorders are a long standing problem resulting in trauma in either childhood or young adult, not always a sexual abuse could be a death in the family etc..... With a personality disorder the mood insatabilty does not always last all day, it can come and go in a very short amount of time.... Yet with a mood disoder it can last from anything for a couple of hours to a couple of days. With my mood disorder I have cylcothymia it last for a couple of hours to a day, and i cycle pretty frequently.

The differences and similarities are apparent, but its harder for a pyschiatrists to determine which one a person has as they sometimes can mask as being the same condition.

I hope that the information that ive given you has helped alittle at least.

You could reasonably ask what the difference is between every psychiatric label? - & rationally conclude that at the heart of things there is little difference between any of them; & that the whole diagnostic categorisation system is a load of made up nonsense - which it is - thank you.

That is true in an essence. The differences between every psychiatrical condition is time limited. With Borderline personality disorder a person can suffere from delusions, but this does not last for long. They can also hear voices, and see things... Yet with bipola a patient can also suffer from this, indeed i have done and still do.
