Voices come out with all sorts of rubbish, I'd be here all day if I were to recount all the bull my voice has said to me.

Feel for you guys, I remember what it was like but they went away completely for me with meds unless I drink a load of alcohol or go more than a couple of days without sleep.

I've held full conversations with the voice that I hear so I believe there's an intelligence behind them and I have specific beliefs about where the intelligence comes from.

Medication for me doesn't stop the voice but does reduce the volume of it by around 95% which lets me get on with my day and ignore it completely which I've been doing for three years now.

I have met people who have had their voice(s) go away entirely through medication, but only the really clever voices shut up when faced with a lifetime of medication if they don't shut up.

@white_nightshade, I dunno I heard 'em for so long when I was taking amphet and weed I can't remember! When I gave up drugs they perisisted for a couple of years afterward until I went on Risperidone then they went away in 4 weeks. I still get a lot of paranoid and anxious thoughts but the techniques I learned in Buddhist meditation have taught me to deal with them before they get out of hand.

I have first hand experience with this hallucination. The only difference was that it was my wife not mother.
I was hospitalised because of it.

It's a really hard cycle of delusional thought to get out of. After medication tweeks I was able to see that I was not being poisoned and it took sheer arrogance to prove to my own mind that I was not.

I dont really know how I did it mentally but I forced myself to eat the food that my wife cooked in a kind of gamble that I would not die and to prove my point.

Guess what. I didn't die or become unwell.

It was hard going mentally for a long time but everyday became easier and the delusion gradually faded away.

I think it was a combination of medication and sheer bloody mindedness with added depression that got me through it.

Almost like
"OK fuck it" "what's worse than this" Kinda attitude.

I am not saying this will work for you but by rolling the dice and taking my own false destiny in to my hands I diffused the delusion.

Medication
Counselling
And becoming a pain in my own minds arse really helped.

Good luck
We are all with you.

It’s good to think about yourself as intelligent :) since you are “talking” to yourself.

What the voices say has been the foremost thing on my mind ever since I started experiencing them. Absolutely nothing interested me more. It was just about an obsesssion. So I started a blog that contains a large number of what I call; "1st person transcripts", that are my personal records of what the voices say.

What they say is critically important. If they say nice, encouraging and friendly things, you don't need meds, and they are great to have around. If they are the usual malevolent, hostile and hating voices, suicide can result.

I have found immense value in writing these 1st perso n transcripts. They stop the voices lysing, they keep to the facts, they allow others to understand what you are going through, so you can get some well deserved sympathy.

Here is an example:

14th June 2019 2041
M?: what do you know about video forensics
s: quite a lot
?M: what do you know about IP addresses
s: virtually nill
?M: why do you ask ?
s: I think you will shortly realise that you asked, and I merely replied
M?: yes, why do I ask
s: I don't enquire
M?: why do you think I ask
s: because, for you, eveything must be done right, proper, and by the book, so you are nequiring to ascertain my propernsity to foil your efforts
M?: what is your IP address
s: Im obviously hoping you know already
M?: why is that
s: so you can stitch me up, and so on...
M?: cause that implies..
s: (interrupting). Yes, it mandates that, sorry about interrupting
M?: what happens if I fail
s: you won't
M?: what happens if you fail
s: all imprints of what has happened and what got achieved disappear.... by the way...I firmly believe all IP addresses will be valid and correct, and not changed or altered in any way
m?: WILL YOU KILL YOURSELF
S: yes, I absolutely will; but only if I can get proof you exist and are human, because I cannot throw away so much health care provision, by killing myself for an hallucination.
M?: hey S, what is your st george bank number?
s: you see right now, I'm logging in
M?: why don't you just go in and buy that? (referring to what is on my computer screen)
s: i might. It depends what you say over the next few minutes
M?: is Michelle here
s: if she is, then she's not dead
M?: how do I know Michelle
s: I don't necessarily know which Michelle you are referring to
m?: how can I put this scott
s: any way you like. I'm not critical. By the way, have we met?
....
