I gather from a quick google there are 5 or 6 major types of anxiety disorders. My main one is social. It also seems lately, like the past 6 months, I've had that "pure O" of OCD going on too, like just an obsession. So that's been a pain on top of the regular (social) issue, bringing the anxiety levels up. Sometimes I notice perfectionistic tendencies too, maybe that's just part of the deal. This is all "self-diagnosed" but I figure pretty accurate, and ya don't need an expert to tell you you have anxiety or an obsession.

Do you have remedies that abate the symptoms of your social and pure O anxieties?

Thanks for asking.

No, I've just been plodding along, suffering in silence I guess. Have recently done some EFT tapping which can bring a bit of calmness. But I've never had therapy. Have thought of going back on Zoloft, though I was doing well med-free since last April. But you know how it goes, some days are better than others and generally if I'm well-rested and continue eating decent, I guess I'm OK and can just accept this stuff.

Interesting, I had never heard of EFT tapping. For me, I feel like I'm a creature of habit and don't avail myself of all the things that are supposed to help like exercise, mediation and I have been out of therapy for a month. I just want to encourage you to have gumption, faith, courage and hope so that you can try new remedies. No pressure though, I don't want to stress you out just to have you feeling better.

Yes, aren't we all creatures of habit? I can tell how my brother here will behave one day to the next. Little details too like where he will put the spoon after making his tea. Because it's the hundredth day in a row in the same spot. Doing something new or different is challenging sometimes, easy as it is to fall back into familiar territory.

I dont know if it classes as a type of anxiety or just symptoms of types of anxiety, but I overthink, and worry about the future, combinations of medical worries for family, and their consequences, and what my life is going to be years from now, as I havent really built much of a life.

Asking someone out was always hard to do for me, so I rarely did, and then sometimes it just came across awkward and it would bother me afterwards, not even sure I was pleased with myself for trying at least, but what else are ya supposed to do?

I guess i have social anxiety. At most, I hide somewhere like in the car to cry my eyes out or to allow myself to ride the emotions of overwhelmed and hyperventilate because that the only way i could eventually calm myself down when i have no-one.

So sorry you are experiencing this. Have you considered therapy? Possibly medication?

That would be great! A word of friendly advice: (heard this in my group) Life is like an hourglass glued to a table. Once it runs out, that's it. You can't just flip it over again. It's your life. Hope that didn't sound to harsh. Just care.
