I have good days and bad days. On a bad day I am continuously trying to work out what might have caused it. To a large extent I know it is beyond my control and sort of random but I thought it would be good to get other peoples input on this. Sorry if this topic has been done before !

What factors do you think help cause you to have a bad day?

Here is my list in order of priority ;

- Not eating enough / eating the wrong things

- Getting cold

- Lack of sleep / rest

- Too much or too little nicotine and caffeine not just on the day but days prior as well

- Had alcohol recently i.e hungover this can last days

- Lack of exercise

- Arguments / falling out with people

- Lack of social interaction

- Financial worries related to essential things like keeping a roof over my head, paying the bills and feeding myself

- Worrying about my health and apearence

- Cloudy weather - I like actually like the rain and clear skies but find just overcast/grey weather brings me down.

- Cognitive overload - this is a weird one, but for example I often find watching especially listening to TV difficult it feels like loads of information being fired at me quickly I struggle to keep up don't watch it much these days just have it on mute with subititles if I do.

Sorry if you are reading these points and they are making you feel bad. The idea was to try and identify negative factors so they can then be eliminated if possible :)

These are the things that can make my depression and anxiety much worse:

Waking up in the middle of the night and not being able to go back to sleep.

Not having meals on time.

Having too much starch and/or sugar in my diet and not enough meat and produce.

Taking the bus to my doctor or nurse.

Taking a long bus trip anywhere.

Having to face crowds of strangers or having to have any interaction with strangers (hence my problems with taking the bus).

Having an argument with my husband or girlfriend. Conflicts with anyone.

The loss of a pet, or the memory of that loss.

Anything that disrupts my schedule.

Any upcoming event that is too 'exciting.'

I like this thread.
It's good to recognise what can cause a bad day and try avoid them/it :)
I agree with all that's been said so far...interesting CLIS I've only recently realised the thing with the 'upcoming exciting events' yes that can do it for me too! I'm glad I now recognise this, it goes some way into understanding why I act how I do ,and my anxieties and restlessness prior to and after an exciting event, or arrangement, which should be a pleasurable experience.

Its good to sit sometimes and try and work out what is triggering your episodes.
Its good to try and learn from experiences, thats good steps towards feeling healthier!

My problem sometimes is to obsess over it too much! which then turns it into a negative!
its a tricky balance for me not sure how it is for you??
Keep talking

Good thread....Nice to see you foxjo, hope you are OK? I remember you from ages ago (I used to be catkin)
Agree with what's been said so far
For me also:
Where I live
Noise from neighbours
Shouting outside (trigger)
Rubbish outside
Loneliness, noone to talk or turn to
Thinking, feeling anything for too long.....
Change...

Everything others on this thread have mentioned affect me badly too.Any kind of conflict makes me very likely to down spiral mental health wise as does not eating well or not sleeping enough.Having to interact when I am unable to too as do money worries!

Similar problems which have been listed above also affect me, any conflict with someone, even talking to someone and overthinking what i said is a problem, waking up from a bad dream can just disable my day, reading about certain things, thinking about the future etc.
