I go on walks in the spring summer, and fall but I don't get much exercise in the winter except from shoveling snow from the driveway. Well, my son works at a nature center where they rent out cross country skis and snowshoes for free and he encouraged me to participate in a 5k race yesterday. So I did it! I came in last place but I finished. My skiing abilities isn't what slowed me down, my heart is what slowed me down. I just don't have the stamina I had 30 years ago when I was young and could ski for miles and miles. I think the last time I went skiing was 25 years ago. I used to ski from my mother's back yard down through the woods to the river, then I'd ski up the river several miles to a club that had ski trails, then I'd ski the trails, and then finally ski all the way back home. There are shorter trails at the nature center. Maybe I'll try going skiing more often. Yesterday was a good day, but I am starting to get Sooooooo Soar.
