Walking anxiety.

Hey,
This is a weird one and I wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this. I struggle with agoraphobia and panic attacks. Whenever I do manage to leave my house with my partner as soon as we are walking down the street I get really wobbly legs. Almost like they are going to buckle under me, or even like I may forget how to walk! Most of the time I have to hold onto my partners hand or arm for support so I feel more stable on my feet. I think this adds to being so afraid of going outside alone. Does anyone else have this with their anxiety? I started to worry that maybe it wasn’t anxiety/agoraphobia and maybe there is something really wrong with my legs/balance! But it only happens in public & I guess the last thought is just the anxiety taking 🤣

Do you take medication to help with your anxiety and agoraphobia or have any kind of therapy?

My sister suffers from the same and is on Propranolol and had a course of CBT to try and help.

Anxiety sure does cause weird symptoms I agree. Try to continue to go outside as much as you can though.

I'm agorophobic and my legs get a little weaker but not quite that bad. I do however forget how to do simple things. The key is to just so it without thought. Your body knows what to do. If you focus on it you gain more control and then can falter.

what is it about people that scares you?
I’m not even sure it’s the other people around that scare me. I can even get anxious outside when it’s quieter and there’s no one around.. I think it’s just because I associate outside with panic attacks!

No not currently, I’m considering it though as my anxiety is starting to become an everyday occurrence!

Yeah I try to trust myself more when I’m feeling these physical symptoms but it’s difficult when you’re panicking isn’t it! Glad I’m not alone in the slightly weak legs!

Walk with a deliberate bounce in your step... almost like you're skipping, and keep your knees bent. It's actually kind of fun to walk that way, so it can make you feel better if you're feeling depressed.
