Georgina. Hi there. You need to try medications they can calm the voices. Not sure if you have doctor. My voices are bad. I ignore them and they stop. I understand what you are going through and it is not pretty. Being on medications almost will stop the voices. Do not go through this alone. Reach out for some help that will suit you and help you. I am on anti psychotic medication. Voices are a sign that something is not going right in your brain. Do not ask me why the voices happens but it does. You do not have to be on medications the rest of your life-just for a small amount time to start controlling what is happening to you. My voices are awful and tell me bad things about myself. At times they did want me to kill myself and others. I had a psychotic break due to the voices in my head. Medication relieved most of the voices. I am like a zombie on meds. I have in the last 4 months after two years on meds tapered down on them-the meds. The voices came back but nothing like before. So it is not a life time thing. I hope you find peace. Love Jules

@Jules5 I don’t think hearing voices is the problem “per se”, what kind of thoughts they actually bring to the conscious mind and the added anxiety and paranoia bring one to an unacceptable state. As I read you can live with your voices fine as long as everything else fall into place. There are quite a few anecdotic stories about this.

Try a different med. I use to hear voices, but now that I am taking paliperidone, 6mg, the voices have gone away. I am so grateful to have my peace back.

Check that dose for the quetiapine as I didn't realise there was a dose that low.
You may need an adjust made to your medication. There are many many types so do not fear if one med does not work as well as you hope. It can take a while to find the right medication so you really need to speak to your doctor to see what changes can be made.
Don't forget that many people here will have there favorite medication but the reality is that what works for them may not work for you.
Good luck. Voices are a real pain in the ass. Mine are pretty quiet now but when I do hear them it's a bit of a shock. I have taken to mocking them now like when I hear somthing like a derogatory comment made about me I tend to reply with a "well where the hell have you been for the past few months" for me this diffuses the situation and puts me back in control.

Hopefully my voices will continue to diminish over the years but even if they hang around I kinda know that at the moment my battle is won and the voices do not and can not influence any decision I make or cause me any harm.
This will happen with your voices hopefully with the right treatment from medication and possibly some sessions with a psychologist to see if he can work out if there is a trigger or any other reasons why you are hearing these things and also to give you the tools on how to deal with voices.

Good luck on your journey.
