Hey everyone. I'm a 44 yr old male who just completed 28 days in rehab for alcoholism/benzo abuse. It was pure hell at first but luckily i was able to find a dr thats helping me taper from the benzos using Valium after cutting me off cold turkey in rehab (i almost went into a full blown sychosis from that). My anxiety is starting to lift, but ive had a few days of severe crippling depression the likes of which were from the pits of hell. I dont do well with SSRIs or anything that messes with my sertonin. I want to try Wellbutrin but im still early in my benzo recovery and dont want to jeopardize my already fragile state of mind by taking something that is known to induce anxiety. Has anyone here had any simular experiences or tried Wellbutrin. Im currently only taking 5mg Valium 2x day as I taper off. (Just a note - ive never been diagnosed with mental illness until i started abusing alcohol/drugs in my 30s and my ultimate goal is to get back to that original state however unlikely that may be 😔)

I have tried Wellbutrin and it worked well for me. However, like you said, it can make a person anxious in some cases. If you are depressed it may work well for you. The response to meds varies so much between individuals, that it impossible to predict how it well affect you personally.

Valium is a benzo, it is probably the first benzo to be used, it has been around for many years.

Valium has a much longer half life. I was addicted to ativan and could not stop cold turkey, i had to taper hence why switching to something less strong but longer lasting.

Yes, it is true, Valium (diazepam) has a very long half life.
