I didn't want to say on this site that I am Orthodox Jew because I didn't people to lower their opinion about Jews because of my experiences but today I need to rant and need to include some details that only make sense if you know that.

Today was Yom Kippur. It's a long day 9A-8P of praying non stop. Also we don't eat from sundown the night before. People bring their kids (I have none) of course and there is a special kids area they are put in. The head of the program was desperate for more people minding the children so she asked me to take one hour out to do it. I agreed. So I got for shift and I see there are all of these are other women in there anyway (the moms) who are just going in there to get out praying. It's hard to stay in the prayer room and stand and sit and not chit chat (I guess, I like it).

Anyway I stay for my hour and no one comes to relieve me. So I go up to these two women who always manage the kids program and ask if they are there to relieve me. They say NO and give me dirty looks! Then they go back to talking to each other while I am standing there looking an idiot. It was embarrassing. I waited a few minutes because I didn't want to just leave the kids "unsupervised" (hey those women who are just gossiping are sitting there) and then I leave. Well the rest of the prayer service they are looking at me and gossiping about me like I am a bad person now :low: I really don't like this place because the women are always so bad towards me I never join any of the events. So the one time I do ends badly. I feel bad now.

I dont think it has anything to do with what religion you follow. These women were just plain rude. You did nothing wrong , you spent your hour supervising and it was finished . Just explain why you missed the rest of prayers was down to these two women

Thanks! I guess my biggest issue is that whenever I interact with people it's like it never goes well. Today I guess I had high hopes everyone would be as serious as I was but nope! I just don't fit in. But I guess with these types of people I should not want to :BLAH:

I don’t know what your age is but are there any groups within the synagogue that you could join in with
