Over the last four months I have tried to stop all my self destructive behaviour, I had twelve things in total that I turned to for short term relief and I have managed to stop all but two, cigarettes and cannabis.
I haven’t smoked joints or cigarettes for thirteen days and instead have cooked cannabis into a fudge. So am I happy with my progress? No, not at all. The reason..I have noticed I still have NO control over my urges. Having just one self destructive trait just means I binge on it. It’s not a good situation at all and what I have realised is that I am going to have to abstain from everything as I simply can’t do anything in moderation. So, over the next two weeks I am going to have to give up cannabis completely along with the cigarettes, and be mindful whilst doing so that I don’t resort to binge eating as a substitute.
It’s exhausting having one challenge after the other. I just have to find a way to succeed but changing your whole lifestyle is not easy. I don’t really know who I am anymore lol. 🤷‍♂️

You cut down from 12 to 2 in the last 4 months? That is amazing Lunas it really is give yourself a huge pat on the back and hug . we all have something for me it was food before that it was weed for 7months smoking 1 gram a day to deal with depression there is nothing wrong with weed if you are responsible also i dont know your conditions so maybe it is not good but keep in mind you made huge progress just keep doing what your doing cut it down eventually cigarettes are meant to be harder to quit then crack not sure of the truth in that but if it is that is crazy

Lunas think of what you did 4 months compare to now look at what you did we are all proud of you  keep it up queen

Thanks so much for your comment but as much as I try I take no satisfaction in what I’ve achieved I just only think about what I’m still doing wrong. Maybe it’s our black and white thinking? Maybe we are just too hard on ourselves? Maybe it’s being a perfectionist? Maybe
my fear of becoming psychotic through cannabis is greater than anything else? Or maybe this illness is just a bastard lol.
Rest assured I’ll tackle my fear and stop both cigarettes and cannabis, I just hope I have a semblance of sanity when I get to the other side. 🤗

Whatever you think about your progress, the rest of us are hugely impressed! Please try to cut yourself a little slack, give yourself a little credit, recognition and compassion.

@Lunus, you and @Lunar Lady have inspired me to try and quit the cigs. I have bought some patches this morning and have had one cigarette in the past five hours, normally I would have smoked about eight in that time. Keep at it.

I'm still totally dependant on cannabis........ but I figure it could be meth so the fact that i have no desire to do any thing else anymore is a plus????

I just wanted to thank you, @Coolname and @Parayana for your comments yesterday. I didn’t think so at the time but they obviously resonated with me as I woke up this morning with a totally different mindset and the realisation of what a fabulous year this has been for me. Thank you so much. 😁
