I am in a relationship now for more than the last three months and he is absolutely fantastic loves me and treats me very well. But from what I have heard from normal people the passion of the beginning times does not always stay at the same level, I guess people can’t sustain that level but I like it because of course having some BPD issues, I like intensity and drama. So of course this is making me sad. We see each other mostly on weekends and he has returned to seeing some of his friends a little bit more than when we were first dating and spending every moment we could together. I know in my mind that I need to let him have balance in his life, that it is healthy for the relationship and brings back more into it, but my emotions so often override my intellect.
But this weekend he was very busy and I only got to see him for a couple of hours each day. I feel so so sad over it and then start worrying that our relationship is going downhill. I miss him so much when I can’t see him more. We are also dealing with Covid of course so we can only go for a walks wearing masks and are waiting to become intimate until after our second vaccines. It has all been rather stressful. I just wanted to post here because I feel very sad about this even though I know we are going to video chat later today. Thanks for reading.

Relationships are so hard with BPD, aren’t they? I can only imagine what you’re going through what with covid preventing you from seeing each other. I hate it when my husband is away and can go into absolute meltdown if he doesn’t give me fair warning, it feels like the world is ending. It sounds like you have a really healthy attitude though, and are managing to guide your thoughts well. The honeymoon phase will definitely end at some point, but remember that it’s not always a bad thing - I always find that there is more stability and security from the six month point, and it can be so lovely and reassuring.

Thank you @Humanitee for your v kind response. Yeah I just don’t do relationships v well: today because we didn’t talk long and had a pretty mundane catch-up (& we were both tired), my head told me that we’re completely running out of things to say and our relationship is therefore dying. I expect fireworks all the time, and this is an old pattern of mine, to base the whole relationship on what happens in one day. On a more positive note, ordered some DBT workbooks today. :)
