I seem to go into shock every day
over big things and little things, or just because I'm on my own

ive always wondered how shock is treated
all I know is to watch tv with a hot drink

any other tips to share ?

I guess it depends on exactly what you mean by shock -- what kind of situation and what kind of feelings.

I think maybe the first shock was my mother turning on me
when she became mentally unwell
and then later when she died, I got into a violent relationship
and after that my relationships improved
but still with shocking elements in them

and more recently I'm just shocked by anything really,
an unexpected bill, noisy neighbours ,
pain , whatever

How do you experience "shock?" What does it feel like to you? What symptoms do you have?

Any of the following: 7 Warning Signs You Are Suffering from Emotional Shock - Harley Therapy™ Blog

I think it is quite normal for you to be reacting this way given the situations you describe. We are after all animals, you could almost think of being in emotional shock as a 'fight, flight...FREEZE' response. This is quite a complicated topic about which I know quite little. But the following does a nice job of explaining:

Sorry if you already knew any of the above and I'm patronising. Sometimes understanding helps getting better :=)

That sounds like a combination of anxiety disorder and PTSD.

Different things work for different people. You might want to experiment to find what works for you. Maybe make a list of all the activities you can remember that tend to make you feel calmer. Then try them when you are feeling in shock.
