Hi everyone. New to all this really, I know everyone is struggling this year but today everything seems to be hitting me at the same time and I just needed to vent to somebody neutral.
I've been luckier than most this year as I've kept my job as a nurse (even been promoted in fact) but with that has come it's challenges as I'm frontline on a medical ward.
My ex and I split up just as we were coming out of the first lockdown which has been really hard to deal with, it meant moving back in with my parents as a 27 year old and now I feel like I'm putting them at risk with the virus etc.
Just feeling really overwhelmed and a bit of a failure I guess. I'm getting to that age where a lot of my friends are settling down and having children. I know I shouldn't be comparing myself but it's really hard
Thanks in advance to anyone who bothers to read my ramblings!

I’m holding up okay, just stressing over reading my last year of being a pharmaceutic student and distant courses makes it harder for me.

Distant courses don’t help with my social anxiety.

At least know you aren’t a failure and you are working a though job. I look up to people that work with taking care and helping people 😊

So is all your work online at the moment? I work with some amazing pharmacists, I imagine its a lot to learn though, so well done for getting this far!

Definitely think I have a bit of social anxiety as well, which sounds weird when I work with so many people, but on my days off I love to be on my own. I've always been a natural introvert and I'm not great in large groups of people at all.

Aw thank you, I'm very proud to be a nurse but some days can be stressful for sure..

Most is online but I have a few lectures I need to get to the uni for.

It’s not weird having social anxiety, I love working with people which make it contradict with my social anxiety and introvert nature.

I can think it can be stressful working as a nurse, the reason why I quit the nurse program and changed to pharmaceutic. I’m not suitable for all the workload and stress nurses can face.

Do you worry about going to uni for your lectures or do you look forward to them at the moment?

I was really grateful for my job when we went into lockdown in the UK as I could still see work friends, otherwise I think I might have struggled. In the end my ex boyfriend just stopped talking to me and it made me feel like it was something I did wrong, but I understand now that we just weren't right for each other. Lockdown almost did me a favour in that sense!

Academically I think pharmaceuticals is probably more stressful! But emotionally nursing can be very hard, so I can understand why that would suit you better if you struggle with social anxiety anyway

Doesn't sound weird. A lot of us here are introverts, and have social anxiety.

Take your mind off things and venture into the Debate Chamber for a bit of entertainment. It's pretty hot at the moment. Post if you're feeling brave :)

It becomes both because I need to take public transport, I'm not working part-time any longer, so I can't waste money on fuel for my car. So taking the public transport increase the risk of meeting people that have cold symtoms, specially people that go to school. But I enjoy going to lecture on uni because it become easier for me to learn, I have dyslexia so only hearing someone talk and seeing a pdf make my brain not want to memorize it. I need more to be able to easily grasp something and create understanding.

Sweden don't have lockdowns and what I worked with before would end up with me taking care of people that had covid-19 so I quit. Because I live at home and my parents is in the risk group. So I just choiced to focus on studying instead, I'm not stressing over to get more money into the bank.

You will be able to find a better person to be together with after this ordeal, sometimes you need a bit of wake up and it can become easy that you blame yourself. But it was not meant to be

I think my job just uses up all my social energy and then I need time to recharge away from people.

Haa, I've just been reading your posts on Trump, I have to say I agree with everything you're saying about him. I can't believe some of the rubbish he's been spouting over the last couple of weeks 😅 very scary time for America and the rest of the world really..

I can identify with that. Most days I get out at lunchtime for a walk on my own, to recharge my energy. I find socialising mentally draining.

It's a fitting end to what has been a quite extraordinary presidency.
