This isolation is really fueling my depression

I usually balance my mood by socialising 3 or more nights per week. I no longer have that option and it is taking me to a dark place.

I'm struggling to hope, to imagine a time when I will not be full of grief for a life not lived, a time when I will not be full of sadness, pain and loneliness. I struggle to imagine a time when my mind will give me peace.

Thanks both. I know you are right, sometimes I forget. Getting out of my head is the thing, that is my aim for the weekend. We will see how it goes.

Can you use Zoom or Houseparty to keep in touch face to face (via screen) with friends? I've used Zoom (for the first time!) and it was good to see people's faces. You can use if for free. I didn't actually talk much, and felt a little self conscious, but got used to it, and enjoyed listening in to the convo even if I didn't say much. There's a chat function where you can type messages as well. I wrote things I wanted to say on a piece of paper and held them up too, one word/short responses. Could you get some mates together to do this, if you think it'd work for you? I'm gonna see if I can set up a Zoom meeting today so my kid can talk to their best mate they haven't seen since the school shutdown, hopefully it won't be too tricky.

I hope things seem a bit brighter for you over the weekend. We're all in this together (/alone)

I am sorry you are struggling.

it does seem to be going on longer than any of us expected, but it will end eventually

in the meantime, what do you enjoy?. reading?. tv?. music?. maybe a walk in the garden

I understand you. The isolation is quite unnerving and is not at all good for someone suffering from depression. I have the same trouble. Cannot go anywhere, or meet anyone, everything is closed. It is very difficult for me to cope with, and it looks like it will go on this way for the foreseeable future.

I’m in the US and our governor plans to extend his Stay Home, Stay Safe order. People anticipate the order will last until the end of the month or mid-May. I live with my parents and while it’s nice to have the company we are all getting edgy to say the least...

The enforced isolation is certainly pushing me toward stir crazy as well. Over the next couple of days I may have a way or two of doing some safe socializing, which I feel I need to do, simply for the sake of some modicum of mental health.

The boredom is becoming a bit too much. Personally, I believe this entire situation is much more mentally taxing on people like us as opposed to the neurotypical folks. They never acknowledge that but I do believe it to be true. Just one man’s opinion.

Hang in there folks.

It is very difficult to cope with, particularly for those suffering from mental illness. Some personal contact with others is quite important. The isolation makes this quite difficult. I'm sure there are many millions of people having problems. I really need to get out. I hope it gets better soon, but it doesn't look promising so far. Take care.

Self doubt can be funny.

Asked myself if I was really depressed or was it something else, maybe just an excuse? Realised I had been thinking about that while sitting in a dark room for two hours, staring at the wall, and had my answer. :rofl2:
