I have to admit that pretty much what is going on here too - the TV is on as background noise and I half watch it.

For me it's comforting to hear the tv. Makes me feel like someone else is home but me.

Would it be really bad if I unplugged the phone?

I am refusing to answer it incase its the nasty temp agency man (wuss me? never!) and it keeps ringing but there is no message left so I think they are just sales calls but I am still feeling sick every time the phone rings. I left my mobile in the car for the same reason

I reckon I'd do the same thing. Have done on a few occasions.

On the earlier subject of crap TV - there is a new series of tool academy starting on e4 tonight.

The last one was a giggle - when I'm having an off day and am mad at C over something silly it makes me realise just how good he is to me and how much worse he could actually be.

Same here Coffee. I'd unplug it and quite frequently do when it keeps ringing and I really don't want to answer.

Lol Bulbie - ITV2? It's such trash, isn't it? :p So entertaining though.

And yeah, tv is company. I don't like it being silent here, and can't listen to music on headphones because it freaks me out that I can't hear atmospheric noises.

That is me to an absolute T, it really is. And yes, ITV2 lol.

I've currently still got the curtain closed over the door, in case anyone needs to come up the stairs.

I don't blame you. When I'm feeling a little fragile I close all the curtains as I get paranoid about people looking in. (Even though I'm on the 3rd floor of a tower block and people can't see me unless I'm standing at the window, or within a meter of it.) But still, I like my privacy. Feeling safe at home is paramount!

I'm glad someone else does this, although I'm not pleased that you feel fragile - of course. I drive my OH batty when I insist on leaving the curtains closed and he will just open them the minute he comes home. I even leave the bedroom curtains shut sometimes and don't feel right if they are open even if I am downstairs. He is beginning to understand some of my MH issues but the curtains one he thinks that it is a throw-back to one of my evil exes and he's told me they will not come and get me as they don't know where I am. He doesn't really that it could be "anyone" coming to get me (or so my mind thinks at the time)

When he's on late shift so he's still in the house when I go to work but gone to work by the time I come home, the first thing I do is shut the living room and bedroom curtains. And lock the door. He has asked if I can unlock the door just before he comes home as it's not very nice having to unlock the house when someone else is at home (fortunately I was in the shower when he came home last night so that was my valid reason for having the door locked)

I usd to leave the door locked all the time, T always had to let himself in, unlocking the door and everything. He's not the most understanding of people, but he just somehow "got" that, and is getting better, slowly.

My door is always locked. Always. I usually put the bolt across and double lock it too, but again that's mostly when I'm feeling unsafe. Again with the curtains, though I like having the curtains open during the day to let some light in. Soon as the sun's going down they get shut again and I turn my lamp on. I can't hack having the main lights on because when I move it casts too many shadows and plays with my head.

Thought I was the only one that had that problem.

Nope, I have a soft uplighter so the light bounces off the ceiling and illuminates enough for me to see really well, but doesn't cast any shadows. Thank feck! I can't walk around outside at night because the street light shadows freak me out. I always think there's someone following me. :S
