Taking magic mushrooms

I know this sounds irresponsible but hear me out. I’m strongly considering taking 5g of mushrooms to trip. I want to hit the big reset button. I want out of my current train of thoughts. I’m not looking to party or get f****d up. I have never done psychedelics before. I want to change my brain chemistry and learn more about my sub conscious mind. I’m still struggling and I have tried just about every single thing and I don’t want to suffer anymore. Psychedelic drugs are a way to commit suicide without actually dying. I need something to show me it’s not worth it to take my life. I’m actually looking to have a terrifying trip, something that will shake me out of my misery. Any kind advice?

I have in the past gone down that road. I grew from spores. I really wouldn't recommend it. Once you do you'll never be the same again.

I cannot endorse this course of action but I can tell you my experience with psychedelics.

I've tried LSD once before and all I got was wobbly walls, bright colours and an inability to stand up, I recall laying on a friends bed hardly able to move and laughing at him making fun of his girlfriend which I apologised to her for but it was terribly funny at the time.

I guess the dose wasn't high enough to have a truly mind bending experience.

I turned down the chance to try the mushrooms because they were picked locally from a recreation ground and they grew out of dog shit no doubt, the other lads were boiling them in a kettle and drinking the water.

Fun fact: The famous psychologist Timothy Leary proposed that he could rehabilitate prisoners using Psilocybin the psychoactive compound in LSD and magic mushrooms.

All I can say is be very careful, if you must take them have someone who isn't going to take the mushrooms watch over you to make sure you won't harm yourself and do it in a safe environment.

George mushrooms are an entheogen. If you currently don't believe in God you will be in for a shock!

I've only tried them once, not a huge dose, but enough. Incredibly up and down and dependent on your set and setting and company more so than any other drug I tried, LSD included. I preferred and got more out of other tryptamines.

I can only really echo NWiddi and say be very careful and please have somebody with you if you choose to go ahead. Psilocybin is something to be respected.

If you're on meds the trip might not happen.

never never land
I did drugs before my psychotic episode.

Now i will spend my life wondering if I hadn't done them maybe it never would have happened.

Talking about the tryptamines, Dimethyltryptamine (DMT) found in Ayahuasca is also a powerful hallucinogenic that several cultures use for spirit quests, opening the mind and healing past trauma.

But it just so happens the Pineal gland in the human brain produces DMT in small amounts, the only reason we're not all walking around tripping all day is due to an enzyme produced by the liver called Monoamine Oxidase (MAO) that breaks down the DMT to safe levels.

I believe my Pineal gland was overproducing DMT which contributed to my psychosis, just like my acid trip I was seeing wobbly walls and brighter colours but without taking anything.

In the documentary called 'DMT the spirit molecule' people report having a DMT trip without taking any years after they've tried it.

Shrooms give me the Fear. Everytime.

Plus - I end up with a new voice in my head. Seriously.

Been 20 years since I bothered with them, and, never again.

They showed me the divine, shamanic experiences and some of the nature of this (un)reality, but as @schizolanza said you never really come back from a psychedelic experience and you will never be the same again if you take them and they are not to be trifled with. To some degree they are like putting an extra few amps through your TV screen to get a better picture - it might work for a while but eventually your Tv will explode and be wrecked if you abuse them. Meditation is a better way to settle the mind and see that picture, you have been warned but it's up to you.

If you're going to take mushrooms for a psychedelic experience, make sure you have a friend around to make sure you and others are safe.

I always have a great experience with shrooms. I do them with my best friend and we talk and listen to music for hours. It’s a good bonding experience for us. Always feel better emotionally the next day. That being said, I got lucky. If you’ve never done them before there’s no way to be certain how they’re going to effect you and it may not be worth it if it’s going to have adverse effects. Everyone’s different.
