Hi everyone, even though it's be a couple of months since my last incident and I'm proud of how long I've been able to stay strong. I'm currently struggling with the urge and thoughts.

I don't know enough about self-harm to give you any meaningful advice but I struggle with other severe mental health problems myself. But I'm proud of the fact that I haven't been hospitalized for two years now.

It’s great its been so long!

It’s a viscous cycle isn’t it. Distraction, distraction, distraction is the key to trying to calm those urges and thoughts down.

Is there something you can do with your hands like writing things down, colouring etc?

It gets a lot easier over time.

Writing is a good way to distract. Sometimes doing some exercise, even a walk can fill the need for "something".

I kinda try to proof my home against easy ways to self harm - I'm less likely to even bother if I have to do multiple steps to do it.

I tried proofing. Unfortunately I began to find more creative ways but I decided enough was enough. I was done. Thank you for your reply. It helped me through. 😊

Good stuff! Doesn't matter why you got past it, just that you did. I sometimes think the trick is just making it take so long to arrange, you give up on doing it at all.

I'm glad teh mood passed.
