I've put new batteries in my torch and LED fairy lights. I'm going to charge my phone up to 100% tonight. I hope for no power cuts but at least I'm prepared. Wondering if I need to pack a bag in case of the need to evacuate?

My Dad is worried they won't survive this storm. He is so worried, seriously deeply worried like I get worried about things. I gave him a hug, what else can I do?

Food is an issue. I have soup for tomorrow lunchtime, and there's a tin of soup in the cupboard 'for emergencies'. I have porridge for breakfast.
Problem 1) I could really do with going out to the shop to get something for/a meal for tomorrow night, and a roll or crisps to go with the soup for lunch.
Problem 2) if there's a power cut I can't cook the food. So I will have nothing to eat.
So basically I need to go out, and maybe get in a sandwich or salad or such as well just in case.
There's an M&S food fairly close, so that's doable, if I put on my heavy waterproof boots and hat and hood and forget the brolly....
Problem 3) Mum and Dad will worry about me if I go out. I will just have to bite the bullet on that one, as it were.

Which leads me onto Problem 4) If the phone network goes down I'm stuffed. And my parents will panic panic panic. Same for if the network goes down their end. There is a public phone box fairly close by, but if those phone lines go down...
.. let's not go there...

How's everyone else doing?

Not worried about it, just kind of resigned to expecting my garden fence to blow down as there's a loose post. Shame you've got to go out, I've made sure I don't have to leave the house in case the roads are awful. Amber wind warning and lots of rain, there'll be flooding if nothing else. Hope your trip to work is ok x

Might it not be time for a day off? They're advising people not to travel by train, and I would think cars are even more iffy?

I'm in nw Ireland. We have some rain here at the minute a bit of wind earlier but none now. I've been out in it. Its fine. Could be a bit of a storm in a teacup.

Iknew I was going to be anxious about during the daytime after the overnight of the storm, in North London, however, i have taken a dose of Pregabalin, so I am and I'll be less anxious now.

I’m worried but I’m trying not to be. There’s nowhere I have to be so I’ll just stay in and wait it out

Hi Folks/Hi all,

I'm just touching base checking to ensure that folk are ok, and less anxious, and hopefully decided which appropraite action to take, in terms of getting and from work.

I hope all are ok, today.

In Leeds we’ve got quite strong winds nd heavy rain. And the fence next door to me is blown down. Fortunately mines still standing at the moment. I was supposed to be going out but wont risk it

It's pretty blustery and very wet out, so the storm is here it's fair to say. I know there have been weather warnings issued, but I'm not overly worried about it. My parents are a bit concerned about roof tiles coming loose at their place, but I'm sure everything will be alright :)

Of course, as Crowded House sing....
