You should start on, i think, 25mg, maybe 50mg but i doubt it will be any more than that. Your dose will increase very, very slowly because there is a small risk of SJS Stephen's Johnson Syndrome. Your doctor SHOULD tell you this. Lots of people take it and say it is the best medication they have ever been given.

Is there anything you are worried about?
Any side effect that is unacceptable to you?

When you start taking lamotrigine, it's important to increase the dose slowly as this will help reduce or stop some side effects happening.

Once you find a dose that suits you, it'll usually stay the same.

A rare but very serious possible problem if you take too much too quickly

I think starting dose is 25 mg's, I was up to 100 mg's at one point. Yea out of the meds I've taken, it smoothed out swings, didn't feel sedated like with risperdal, and really didn't have any side effects at all.
