Hi! I am 18 years old and since quarantine, I have been struggling with this sperm OCD. Essentially, I am afraid that my own sperm may spread on my family members after ejaculating, even if I wash my hands and shower afterwards. It is a fear that has really been bugging me alot and I was wondering if there is anything I could do? I don't receive any therapy or anything so I'm kind of new to everything. This is really annoying me and I just want it to go away. Any tips?

Hello Nati. Your sperm cannot live once it is in the open. Please reassure yourself by telling yourself there is no way your sperm can spread to your family. You have nothing to worry about.

Is this true? When I first developed the fear, I kept panicking so much about possible transmission that it has bothered me for so long...and I just kept panicking so hard I didn't know what to do :/

Nati, your sperm is not going to be on your hands after you have washed them. Maybe it would help for you to do some research into sperm so you understand a bit more.

I am not trying to fob you off but I think you should go and see a Doctor because you are worrying over unnecessarily over something very small and its affecting your life.

If I were you, I would stop watching porn or what ever you do to get yourself horny and lessen that and see how you go from there. If you try that for a whole week and do it properly see if you have that issue with the OCD thoughts.

It is true. What you're worried about is literally impossible. Do your research and it will confirm it. This should quiet your ocd. If it doesnt then seek help.

I can add that sperm can survive no longer than 30 minutes on a person's skin in the correct conditions. If the sperm encounters water it will die in seconds. Semen requires a specific temperature and moisture to survive. In fact testicles move up and down closer and further from the body depending on the temperature of the internal temps. It's that specific. You have nothing to worry about.

Just do what my OCD friend does. Use tons of bleach and don't touch anyone.

Also wear latex or nitrate gloves when you need to relieve yourself. People think I'm stuck up because I don't shake hands or allow people to touch me. People are gross and it's nothing personal.
