I saw my social worker 2 day she does a specialist job where she works mainly with people that have personality disorders and suicidal tendacieces i can,t spell it i ,ve been seeing her for around 9 months and i feel it,s helped me so much having somebody that takes pd disorders serious so what i am saying do u think it would help if this was avilaible in other area,s i do cause it means pd disorders r been taking more serious by the nhs and doctors and other people what do u all think

I thought i'd add my two cents here if you dont mind. I agree with you that the nhs at least is taking personality disorders more seriously by setting up support groups that people can attend either via referal or self referal. I speak inparticularly (sp) of a service user group i belong to. Its a self referal group especially for people with a dignoses of pd or a person who has traits of a pd without being diagnosed.

If it wasnt for the SUN group then I dont know where I would mentally be, but on the other side of the waiting list for therapy that needs to be shorter or a new way of recieving support and therapy needs to be addressed. The quicker a person gets therapy the better they become ie social inclusion and stuff like that... but i feel its a long way to go yet so dont give up hope.
