Part of why I signed up here was to end my addiction to Twitter because I realized it doesn't go well with BPD. I'm always triggered if I'm not interacted with much and all of that. I had friends there but I felt like they didn't really like me much, they were just being nice.

I honestly think if you're not one of those super popular mental health cutesy chicks, who have like 4k followers while following 25, you end up feeling invalidated and stuff... At least I did.

It's a shame, too. I think all of us battling mental health deserves the same treatment and care. It just wasn't healthy so here I am.

By the way, I spend so much time online because I have agoraphobia, a severe anxiety disorder that causes panic attacks in public.

I agree. Facebook, twitter, dating sites are all best avoided for me. I try to stick with news websites and youtube (currently watching videos by a psychologist called Dr Grande, worth a look if you are bored)

Enjoy, Dr Grande will entertain and inform.

Dr Robert Sapolsky is also a must watch. He is a neurobiologist in Stanford University with a special interest in human behaviour. He was involved in the Zeitgeist movies, Stress: portrait of a killer, lots of his university lectures on youtube too.

I can’t help but to feel the same way. And yet I feel selfish for ever thinking that. I honestly have a whole opinion on this unfortunately.

Social media is a societal tumor, end of story; BPD or no BPD. Try and spent less time staring at the cold, white glare of your computer and more time enjoying the world around you. Time with your friends, family in real life is as much of a cure as medication and therapy. I know you have social anxiety but keeping yourself cooped up like this, avoiding the very things that make life a rich and pleasant experience is not going to do you any favours. Push yourself out of your comfort zone, take the intiative.

Use it at a bare minimum, only for staying in touch with/messaging friends. And even then only because it is necissary in this day and age. Whenever I do, I just arrange to see them in person.

I quit social media over 2 years ago and it was the best decision I ever made. I was only in facebook, but was constantly wanting to see how my grown up children were doing but it just killed me inside seeing them doing so much without including me, I realised it triggered my neediness which is ugly. Since I quit I've had more lovely chats on the phone with friends and family, the ones who really care, not the fakes you experience on social, and which is much healthier I think. I've had so many people say how could I live without social media? Others say they'd love to quit but scared to, it really is like a drug to them. I simply say I enjoy real life so much more and I spend more time outdoors which I love more than staring at a phone ☺. I think it's a disease this generation will struggle with. Anyone agree?

I think social media is quite stressful and unhealthy for the mind. I can't use it at all as it makes me paranoid.
