Sorry this is a whinge :(
I am SO low at the moment I need to get things off my chest but I have nobody else to talk to.
I have suffered from depression for a long time but only got help fairly recently and am currently waiting for counselling (which I am dreading). I have BDD and have hated my appearance for 25 years, I thought things were getting better but in the last month or so I have been spriralling down into a black hole again and I can't see a way out. I hate leaving the house because I can't deal with the awful way I look, I work full time and it's getting harder to hide how I feel - today I was crying and I had to lie and say I had hurt myself although I don't think for a second my boss believed me.
I wouldn't kill myself but I can't stop thinking about death and just wishing that I wouldn't wake up in the morning.
Thanks for listening.

Hello,
I agree with DELATEXT. Do not worry about getting counselling, we have all been there. Its fine, nice people. That is certainly your first step.

Killing yourself is bad for your health, don't do it.

Keep posting, we will reply and help where we can.

I can completely empathise with you and how you feel.
I've been having counselling now for 7 weeks and when I first started it I was such a mess.. but it's what they expect! They're not expecting someone to come in completely calm and be able to talk with ease. It takes time but it does help.
I hope you get the help you need soon and when you do, remember to stick to it! There are days when you'll feel like you don't want to go to counselling but you have to :)
I hope you feel better soon.

(P.S. Nice music taste :) I love iron maiden!)

Thanks for the replies. I will try not to worry about counselling, I am very uncomfortable about talking about my problems but I will giv it a go.
I WON'T kill myself but right now I wish I could just not wake up in the morning.
Jisatsu - are you going to see Iron Maiden at Sonisphere festival? I'm a bit of a fanatic

Powerslave: Depression is tough, but you can get through it. Don't be scared of counselling... it's a huge help and relief. I wish you all the best, and it's positivie that you have staded you will no commit suicide, as it's a pointless and hugely harmful step.

Hi Powerslave, I know the feeling. I was dreading having to talk to someone too about my issues. Its easy on a computer screen but if you're sitting there face to face its not so easy. Fortunately they are remarkably easy to talk to. I guess due to practice, training and the fact they themselves are quite comfortable with mental health issues. If you get a good psychologist I am confident you'll find it nowhere near as bad as you expect. I have even found a new doctor since I moved house who is extremely easy to talk to because shes is clearly comfortable as well with talking about it... my last doctor i felt very uncomfortable talking about anything like that with.

Best of luck with it all, be sure to keep us updated on how its going for you :)

Thanks to everybody who replied to my original post. I have decide to go away for a few days (to York) and get my head sorted out but I feel a bit more positive about life than I did when I posted.

A break away can do the world of good. It's made me feel a lot better in the past, relaxing and not having everyday stress around you. I have thought about counselling, but I feel the same as you. A friend of mine is a psychotherapist and is fantastic. She seems to know what to say to put people at ease. Give it a try... What do you have to lose?
Have a fab trip! Enjoy and relax :)
