Hi there,

I suffer with very bad SA and my doctor said I had mild autism

I'm really not exaggerating or being paranoid when I say I'm hated at every workplace i've been at (mainly because of the difficulty I have in making eye contact) and resultantly REALLY struggle to hold down a job. I am nice to people but I am just considered odd

I would really like a job where I can work by myself (easier said than done) as I need to pay my mortgage etc!

Any advise from others who struggle please. How do you get by??

:welcome: random girl.

I am struggling at work with a mental health issue. It is tough. My situation is different to yours as I dont have a mortgage.

I was thinking of changing careers into something more meaningful. Maybe you need to switch to something that will make you feel more engaged?

I'm sorry to hear that. People can be very judgemental :low:

I actually don't mind the work (and i work hard and take care in my work) but I never fit in anywhere I go. People literally hate me and I have nearly been fired a couple of times.

My doctor actually said to me that i'm the kind of person that would be good to hire because I pay a lot of attention to detail but I have tried so many different types of jobs and wherever I go i'm hated. Thats what makes me think I need a job where I'll be by myself or can work from home. So tough

Sometimes we can feel like we are hated but this is not the case. I don't hate anybody at my office, even my boss - for him I am just baffled by and indifferent. I work for the NHS and we have all sorts of characters here.

It is better to be different IMO. You sound like a good employee, you take care of your work. Maybe you just need to talk to someone and realise that you are more popular than you think.

I know what you mean but I have heard many people say it, ha. And it definitely isn't paranoia. I sometimes envy people who just fit in like its a breeze so much. I have come to terms with the fact i'll never lead a normal life

You come across on here as thoughtful and authentic. Those are excellent qualities. Nothing you have said would make me think negative about you.

I will never lead a normal life, but who wants to be normal. Normal is whatever some company is trying to sell us.

Be different, embrace your difference. Be wise and strong. Don't worry what other people think.

I'm not particularly good around people so I looked for work which doesn't involve contact with others. I applied for and got a little job cleaning at a small mental health unit which is literally a 3 minute walk from my house. I go in at 5pm when the staff are leaving, say a quick hello, then I work until 7:30pm completely on my own. It's actually quite cathartic :)

I have bad social anxiety and had a rough 3-4 years right after high school bouncing from job to job, literally everyone except a few hated me at these jobs. I worked very hard and I'm not talking myself up but because I didn't 'get it' or fit in with the social cues I was utterly despised. Whenever I did do something wrong that gave them all the more reason to hate me and I got in a lot more trouble. Now I'm working from home. Life's still difficult but its gotten better because I removed myself from everyone but my family. Its still a work in progress too. Good luck
