I know I need to talk to my doctor about this but is there something comparable to Seroquel (I take 400mg at night) that doesn't cause you to lose all emotions/feelings.

My lack of emotion is wearing on my marriage

Rexulti works for me. It doesn't take my emotions away. You're right you need to talk to your doctor. I hope you find something that works for you.

Quetiapine/Seroquel is my go to med when all else fails and I start my journey over the edge. 75mg knocks me into a mood of not caring about anything. 400mg would probably do more harm than good for me. My regular brain related medications come pretty close to shutting down my wanting to react to most of my emotions. Anger issues are shut down. Sex is not. Caring for loved ones with few exceptions are all but shut down.

I'm on amitriptyline.

its wonderful and does not lead to drowsiness the next day. At a low dose at least.

How do you find seroquel has affected your weight?have you experienced any weight gain?I've been prescribed it at a low dose but I'm scared to take it due to fears of weight gain as I've suffered from eating disorders in the past..x

Not in my case

I don't take enough Seroquel for it to impact my weight (I also have trouble with my weight but it is a result of a lack of eating discipline). The doctor is thinking of putting me on Seroquel in place of my other BP meds because of the strong reaction I have to it (1 25mg tablet mellows me for 12 to 18 hours). I find the mellowing aspect too mellowing -- I lose all interest in everything!.

It definitely affected my weight. After a few months of gaining and gaining my doctors offered me metformin to help with the weight gain I took awhile to decide on it, afterall it is yet another pill to swallow but I decided to try it and metformin helped so much I lost a lot of the weight I had gained and my appetite is more manageable

So yes Seroquel increased my weight which was horrible for my self acceptance BUT metformin then offset it and so I stayed on Seroquel.

I should also say that in the past month I feel like I have had more emotions. I seem to cycle through having emotions and not and also cycle through low motivation and some motivation but the cycling is easy to deal with and not like the swinging extremes of BP

I don't know yet what works yet besides Seroquel. I gained 50 lbs in 9 months and felt like a zombie. I went off of it for over a month, had a bad day of no sleep, feeling a little manic took one single 100 mg, slept and felt so much better. I've gained back emotions enormously not being on it regularly. I'm going to speak to my doc about something else or take it only for very bad days, which it really isn't intended for that use. I've lost 5 lbs without trying going off of it routinely.
Good luck.
