Hi. I'm new to this forum. Diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia in 2010 while only experiencing psychosis, delusions & suffering from the negative symptoms of schizophrenia in 2010. Never have I been diagnosed with depression or anything else. I relapsed in 2016 because I stopped taking the medication that I was on. I have been on different meds since 2010, now I'm on Vraylar. Since the beginning of 2009 when I had my first emotion and when I was hospitalized in 2010, I have only I felt 2 emotions during my time when I was in the hospital in 2010. But I realized something worse. I never felt anything prior, meaning my entire life, before being diagnosed & even after the diagnosis. My question is to anyone reading this, do you think I’m suffering from something like a mood/emotional disorder on top of the schizophrenia? Not looking for medical advice, just people’s opinions, and thanks.

hi Arod

no I think the 2 are probably linked
I think most people have some feelings that they cant face
and also people are interested in their emotional life
to a differing extent

some people are quite happy getting on with interesting activities
and would find looking at their feelings upsetting
whereas I like looking at them

how are they linked in my case
is that my difficulty getting to grips with my feelings
led to ptsd and then on to psychosis
which is a connection I'm trying to unravel

k see if you can do some writing about your feelings
some people find this easier to draft it on pen and paper
you can try to remember if you have ever felt anything
or if you know what you are feeling now
maybe look at pictures on the computer
to see if you feel something

I'll try writing them down, but I think it will be very difficult for me to feel something from pictures. Maybe experiencing something like a sad scene in a movie will make me experience an emotion.
