Schizophrenia, delusional beliefs

Hi, I'm new here. I have been hearing voices since 2012. The voices alternate and sometimes I see faces that go with the voices. The faces are in cartoon form. I believe that my memory isn't as good as it used to be. I have been diagnosed with schizophrenia. I stayed in a psych ward for 6 months after living on the streets. I used to live under a bridge in Victoria, Australia.

I also have a strange belief that birds are as intelligent, if not more intelligent than humans. I also believe that birds are psychic and can read my mind. Maybe they make me hear voices as well, I don't know. I guess that could be demons.

I let go of my beliefs for a while, but I am still a Christian and I regularly look at videos about the Bible on Youtube and read articles about the Bible online.

Sometimes I think we live in a simulation (virtual reality). I don't believe that gravity and magnetism make sense because there are no strings. They are some of my main reasons for believing I live in a simulation, and that birds can read my mind.

Welcome Scrooge, all beliefs welcome here! I hope you have some peace in your life. And I hope you still don't live under a bridge. Take care.

Hi Scrooge,
Why do you call them delusional beliefs if you believe in them? Is you reasoning challenging them somehow?
If so, why would you look for magical/mystical explanations instead of asking somebody else or just looking-up the info yourself?

I am not very confident about my assumptions at this time. I know that a psychologist might think of them as delusions so I suppose I categorized myself.

I hear the birds respond negatively or positively when I am thinking in my head. Kind of like yes or no to my thoughts. The thing is that I also hear voices that I know aren't there so I think I could be hallucinating about the birds being psychic and responding. I have read that some birds can be as smart as apes, but I don't know if that is enough to follow my thinking and it isn't proof of them being psychic. I have actually done a search before about psychic birds and there was a forum where some people believed their pet birds were psychic.

Thinking that a demon is making me hear voices stemmed from some verses I've read in the bible. I don't know if demons are magical/mystical, I thought they were fallen angels.

I guess believing we live in a simulation isn't necessarily delusional if its true. It would explain a lot of claims that don't seem to make sense in the real world.

Is just a theory, I don’t believe in your theory. These kind of questions (the simulated world) are something that everybody has and philosophers have proposed various theories to explain our meaning and so on, but having so many possibilities and most of them have opposite truths, in the end that’s all they are, theories that one could like or not, but believing with all your heart in one of them feels like a choice rahter than rational thinking. I think this is important; knowing things vs feeling things, and this can deceive you.
I am a Christian and I pray everyday, but I would never interpret the Bible ad-literam.
What I think is happening to you is that all these “external” information you feel is actually something internal that your consciousness is trying to make sense for what you feel (is a basic need in us to have explanations rather than just accept we have an emotional side as present as the rational one)
