Running and crochet for depression

Hi everyone

on top of psychosis i have been dealing with depression recently. I hate having nothing to do and have had a lot of spare time on my hands which i hate because then my thoughts get on top of me and turn to suicide. I realised i had to choose to be well and work to get better. I took up running and have now run a half marathon and am in training for a marathon. Its helping but i am not all there yet.
i have also taken up crochet which is really calming and afterwards I have something to show for it. Its easy to learn off you tube whereas books are hard to learn from. I have crocheted some of my Christmas gifts for friends and family. If you are looking for ideas to overcome depression then i would recommend running and crochet. If you are not used to exercise the couch to 5K is good. Anyone else try knitting or crochet for depression or running? Any more tips?

I'll never be a runner but walking is really good for you too - it's really helped my depression in the past.

Being creative in general is a good idea - even if you keep it simple and just do a bit of colouring.
