It took a while for me, a few months I think after I changed medications. But I was on risperidone for a few years, and the dosage may have influenced things, and who knows how the new medication affected things. It’s very individual, based on your body responses, it may be shorter for you.

Best of luck!

I also had problems when I took risperidone. When I stopped taking it everything went back to normal in a few weeks. But then I had a mental relapse so I had to start taking an antipsychotic again and this time it was Geodon. I now have libido and other sexual disfunctional problems again, for which I've been thinking of asking my doctor for a prescription of Viagra of just one or two pills to try it out. It is very expensive because my insurance won't pay for it.

I was on risperidone for a month or two and after getting off it and switching to Seroquel, my libido returned within a few days. Was never a fan of risperidone because of the sexual dysfunction. If you're looking to avoid this I recommend finding an antipsychotic that does not increase your prolactin levels (you can research on the internet and find info about this). I believe that, even without prolactin increase, many antipsychotics have at least some sexual dysfunction, some stronger than others, so this may be something you just have to accept if you want to stay on these meds.
