In my own head
Hi Guys,

Im in a very good mood today as I have discovered a long lost gift of mine.

I used to write poetry when I was about 17 but stopped after my mental breakdown and never thought anything of it. Then Last night while I couldn't sleep i attempted to write one. To my amazement I ended up writing 9 songs, all good quality lyrics! They just seemed to flow all night long, it was wierd. I now believe that I have not lost my creativity an can still produce things from my medicated mind. It has restored some of my faith back in myself and I have found it very theraputic. And i now have a new interest and somewhere/some means to vent my thoughts etc.

PLEASE, PLEASE CHECK THEM OUT - SOUL SOLD IS RELATED TO PSYCHOSIS
I WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE ANY FEEDBACK OR COMMENTS LEFT ON THE SITE (ESPECIALLY GOOD ONES!)(y)

Many thanks. Gem. xxx

I think expressing yourself in a creative way can bring so much relief to some of our problems. I wish I did it more myself, but it is something I have lost the art of doing sadly. :(

I couldn't find the poem 'soul sold' on your page? Perhaps I am missing it?! I'm a bit daft when it comes to these things sometimes!

You might be interested in another members poetry on here, he also writes alot of poetry about his experiences. I'll pm you a link if you are interested. :)

Glad you're finding it helps - i find writing poetry helps alot with my recovery - have had a book published with Chipmunka.co.uk -they specialise in mental health publishing - might be worth checking them out.

I'm glad poetry helps you, I sometimes find a similar support by putting my feelings into artwork.

Creativity

Yeah creativity in any form pushes us beyond the boundaries of what ourselves and our doctors tell us we can do. Good for you on getting out that pen! By creating something, you extended the boundaries of your mind!

For myself my creativity is thinking of new lifestyle changes, career decisions, and that kind of thing right now. If that sounds odd for a mental health forum, consider this: I am an ex-meth addict who is currently on 5 types of medication to control depressive-type schizoaffective disorder and sleep issues. But I found hope by stretching my mind, reading, learning, seeking wisdom.

Id like to encourage you to keep breaking out of the boundaries in your head! I did and its awesome! Im now looking at career decisions, making plans to go to university, and I have never been happier in my life! I dont have a girlfriend or all that great of a family but I do have a bunch of great friends!

The pen is mightier than the sword. I love that quote! ;)
