People with serious mental illness are suffering neglect and discrimination when they have been detained for treatment, according to a report ordered by Theresa May.

Too many of those sectioned under the Mental Health Act receive a lack of dignity and respect from staff, according to the review of legislation, which has identified a series of problems with it.

I have only ever been sectioned for just a few days in the early 80s so can't really comment on this.

Here in America they Baker Act people and treat them like animals. First thing they do is make you strip and shower as if you were a dirty homeless person. Then they find some excuse to have the staff tackle you and put you in the padded room. I can't write any more about it; it gets me upset.
