Have you been on Zoloft for at least four to six weeks? That's how long it typically takes for an SSRI to kick in. Talk to your doctor to see if your dosage needs to be adjusted. Also, seeing a therapist for talk therapy might be beneficial for you.

So, if what you need is relief, what can you do about it when the tire hits the road?

You may have treatment-resistant depression. I have treatment-resistant depression, and I get very little--if any--relief from the meds that I take.

What makes you carry on when your suffering though to me i can understand why people commit suicide from depression it is the most debilitating condition to have antidepressants are just not good enough with all our technology in the world we cant develop a treatment that actually works.

I carry on because I'm hoping life will get better. But I still have suicidal thoughts, so take my being hopeful with a grain of salt.

I agree with this. Also, remember people do recover from severe depression.

I wonder how many people recover from severe depression. Maybe a quarter of them or less? I doubt it's a large percentage.
I think it probably one of those things where, when people recover from depression, they become invisible to the medical profession, researchers and statisticians.
