does anyone with real event ocd ever wonder why their brain has decided now to start worrying over something? whether it happened six months ago, two years ago, ten years ago... why did it not bother me until right now? i just can’t kick this... this thing never bothered me until recently. for about a year and a half i hardly thought about it the way i think about it now... i regret it so much... but why did my brain decide right now is the time to obsess?

Is it because it came into consciousness? I don't know much about this but i know it is quite common for things to surface at certain times. I have heard it linked to times of high stress but also times of quiet boredom such as retirement.

I cannot really know what causes things to pop into our minds and why somethings start to bother us. I know that I have thoughts about things bother me from months to years or even decades ago. My current obsession is something that happened 12-13 years ago. I am feeling such guilt over things that happen every day and yet to me they are making me feel sick to my stomach.
