Purging was my jam about 10 years ago. I was really sick with it and can’t believe I was able to recover on my own at the time.
It has, for whatever reason (I know the reason), crept back into my life recently and it’s both worrisome and congratulated by my ED mind.

It feels like every few weeks, a “new” behavior pops up and I’m hyper-focused on that. I went from SH to SI, restriction to purging to god knows what else.

I forgot how addicting purging can be, though, and it’s really taking a toll on my body and overall well-being. I’m tired all the time — more than usual, I mean. I’m afraid to eat out of fear that I’ll have to get rid of it. And even if I do get rid of it, it doesn’t matter (says the ED brain), because I’m still me post-purge.

That’s where I’m at right now 🤷‍♀️

Focus on the reason it crept back and focus on fixing it. Before you do permanent damage to your body.

Think of the damage your doing to your body with the purging. It may be controlling your weight but your heading for erosion damage in your stomach and to your oesophagus . Your teeth and gums will suffer from the acid when you keep purging. I’m speaking from experience and have sufferered lots of physical and dental problems

It’s not that it necessarily controls my weight; it helps me release what I’m feeling — as self-harm does for many. Currently, that’s how I’m viewing my purging. I do it and I get to escape my mind for a little bit. I get to take something that I’m feeling out on myself.
Thankfully, I have not felt the urge in a few days, so I’m just taking it day by day right now 💜
