For years I only thought I suffered from anxiety. But later I found out that I have PTSD. Has anyone else experienced this? The discovery of an anxiety “condition”that you didn’t know you had? What are your experiences with ptsd and how did you discover you had it? What was your onset of symptoms and how did you cope?

Empathy iz a great healer. Try to be kind to yourself and be receptive to help from others. That is my experience

It’s says symptoms must last longer than a month to be considered ptsd. It must also interfere with work and relationships.

Most people recover within six months but some become chronic. I wonder how it becomes chronic? Maybe a permanent injury or emotional instability cause by ptsd?

“Triggers of ptsd can include sights, sounds, smells, or thoughts that remind you of the traumatic event in some way. Some PTSD triggers are obvious, such as seeing a news report of an assault. Others are less clear.”

I always felt a strange dread while i was growing up. A worry that i would be unprepared for something out of my control.

That’s not ptsd. Ptsd can come with feelings of doom but it follows a trauma. Like a car accident, rape, injury ect ect.

“PTSD is a psychiatric disorder resulting from a traumatic event. Terrifying or threatening experiences like war, abuse, or neglect leave traces that get stuck in our memories, emotions, and bodily experiences. When triggered, PTSD causes symptoms like re-experiencing the trauma, panic or anxiety, touchiness or reactivity, memory lapses, and numbness or dissociation.”

Hence the 'post traumatic' part. I am saying that i worried about it before it even happened which is strange
I’ve done that! And even with feeling and warning it happened anyways. 😆
