I have been getting more interested in psychic self defence recently as I have been going through a rough patch trying to lower my meds, and I came across this interesting article on psychic self defense on OshoNews...

In New Age circles the subject of psychic protection often arises. According to my experience psychic protection is a misnomer. If we protect ourselves from something, then we are going into a fear-based reality, which says, “defend, protect and limit,” as if we need to live behind walls in order to feel safe. This is to live life in a prison of our own making.

The other alternative is a love based reality, which says, “love, trust and expand.” As we expand, we realize that it is possible to become vast enough to contain all contradictions.

Which I thought puts the whole problem quite clearly. I’m going to track down some psychic self defense meditations and put them up here as well.

If your own relationship with yourself or your own reality is not love based, surely this would not work for you though. A lot of people with mental health problems have little self love, I know I do. So would it work for me or others here in a similar mindset?

Well the article highlights different approaches... the idea of aligning with a higher power or enlightened being is a good one though, I think that works regardless of what your personal mindset is like.

Aligning with the Higher Self rather than being stuck in the mindset of your illusory self?

You will have to excuse me if/when I ask daft questions on this, Kerome, I always feel out of my depth a bit on this kind of thing. :sorry:

I don’t think that’s quite right - the higher self is just a manifestation of us, ourselves reflected and at our peak but not transformed. So aligning with it is unlikely to change our energy at its core. The idea of aligning with an enlightened being involves changing our energy, our vibration, to match that of someone who has achieved enlightenment — emptiness, loving-kindness and inner peace. No beings with evil intentions will be able to follow or attach to you if you do that.

An enlightened being might be the Buddha or Osho or Kwan Yin, there are many with different qualities listed from different sources.

For me it is a question of how to align with an enlightened being rather than who they are, I suppose for a novice like myself that seems a reasonable thing to ask, but am guessing there are reams of articles on the MHF as to how to do it.

The article says, Moving into the inner world, if I simply affirm, “I am with Osho, aligned with his energy and everything he represents” then whatever is not in tune with his vibration will simply fall away. Seems straightforward if you have discovered the inner world... the gateway is usually said to be at the throat.

That would be amusing...

I liked this part of the article as well, about un-hooking, where it says If someone carries incomplete issues within, those issues will resonate in their auric field and will act as a beacon calling other energies of the same resonance. And basically that you need to clean up your real-life issues if you don’t like what you attract in an energy sense.

Cleansing auras, clearing blockages, unhooking bad entities, all of those seem to come up fairly regularly in the literature of psychic defense... it’s a question of searching for effective tools though to cope with this stuff.
