I think that's a very promising area, I've come across some interesting pieces on more mainstream media such as The Tim Ferris Show (ok that's a widely-disseminated podcast) which are about institutions in the US where they are working with ibogaine and ayahuasca to help people, especially those with deep trauma and ptsd.

It's still small, but the good thing is that it's growing and some doctors are buying into it and supporting it, so the medical establishment isn't immediately going to try and squash it.
