Hello!

So I suffer from flash backs, and one of the people who is present in a great majority showed up at my house last night. I'd like to get a protection order so that they do not do this again. I'm looking for advice about this.

I live in the States. Is everyone on this site in the UK?

Also...

Thanks. I appreciate all of you.

I live in the US.And I have had a no contact order against a family member before.First I was told I needed to tell the person/people to stay away and let them know if they contacted me in any way I would get an order against them. And then I did after more contact.

I am not sure if you can get one just based on things someone did in the past,I"m pretty sure there has to be something going on in the present.I don't think having flashbacks will be considered harassment or abuse or that you could get a protection order against them. But if you tell them to not contact you in any way and they continue to do so,then you can.

This is how it works where I live,it could be different where you are.Your best bet is to talk to the police about it and find out,

Omigoodness, thank you!

I totally did ask that I be left alone, and I threatened to call the police if they would or could not comply.

I posted all of that on a Sunday. It's been hard waiting for Monday, when businesses are open and I can ask people whose job it is to know.

Sorry to hear about what you had to go through. I really appreciate you sharing about it just to help me, a stranger. I am the most impatient person in the world, sometimes, and it soothes my anxious soul to get a helpful response.

Thank you so much!

I hope it all turns out well for you.

Something I was also told is if I let that family member in my house even one time after getting the no contact order then it would no longer be valid. The police said I couldn't open the door for them, let them in and then get upset and decide I didn't want them there.

Oh yeah,I was also told if they did show up at my house to call them(the police)and they would be arrested. They even said it didn't matter whether they were still there or not by the time they arrive, that just me telling them they had been there was violating the no contact order and would get them arrested.
