Progressive relaxation has the opposite effect on me. It makes me realize how much emotional pain I am carrying in my body. I know ultimately I have to overcome this, but right now I can't go there. The last time I tried progressive relaxation it ended with me sobbing out loud for a long time.

I think it's good to know you're not ready to 'go there' yet.
I'm very similar in that I carry so much emotional pain in my body.
I have done similar exercises to this in the psyche ward - focusing on relaxing my toes then going up my body.. as soon as I got to my solar plexus area I just broke down in tears.

It might be better though now i'm not in a crisis. It's worth a go.
