Loads of stuff; from purely physical to stuff that might be more subconscious, through to conscious behaviour.

Physically - appetite consistently low, sleep always inconsistent. Can leave me a bit prone to faints and lacking in energy if it gets pushed too far. Also have a pretty sensitive stomach and hundreds of weird food behaviours.

Conscious behaviour - detachment and seclusion, avoidance of social settings.
Subconscious behaviour - hiding face with hands, wearing hats, hoods, avoiding photos, feeling a need to destroy photos. Also - routines - from the childhood avoiding slabs, counting stairs, and other stuff, through to adulthood shaking. Nail-biting consistent. Will also niggle at any bit of my body that annoys me, so a bit of that too. I tried to grow a beard recently but realised I'd be touching at it 100 times an hour or more.

Yup. Sinus headaches and pressure have been really bad lately, partly from anxiety and partly from crappy, hot, steamy weather in my region.

I have a very long list of crippling/disabling symptoms which they have constantly told me are due to 'anxiety' but I don't believe them. I think that's a nonsense 'god of the gaps' non-explanation, their catch-all way of explaining-away anything they lack the knowledge to diagnose.

Certainly, none of their treatments for 'anxiety' (whether meds or talking therapy) has had the slightest effect on any of the symptoms, the most long-standing of which started in 1986.

Sorry to hear that, i find anxiety is really tough and hard to accept. Do you want to share your symptoms to see if it helps and we can maybe relate to see if that would help you. Xx

Thank you for asking about it, I did write more detail at first but then deleted it because it all feels far too personal. I have tried to mention things repeatedly but I keep finding I don't feel able to say too much, and delete it again.

But I will say that every symptom began almost overnight before immediately becoming permanent - the first in 1986, then in 1994, then in 2013 then in 2016 and finally one more in 2020. And it's like I've spent my life being tortured by an invisible torturer, or by someone sticking pins in a voodoo doll of me.

Now, in 2020 they found I had a (large, and apparently life-threatening) congenital brain tumour that was causing hydrocephalus - a condition which from what I've read, has known symptoms that match _some_ of mine (but not all...though as it can cause brain-damage, it seems as if it potentially could explain almost anything...but I really can't see how it explains some of mine, which in any case are still here, post-surgical removal of the thing).

The most recent symptom - bad tinnitus - seems to me like it's a consequence of the brain surgery itself, as it only began post-surgery. The neurosurgeon denied this was a possibility, but I've seen accounts of other people who've had brain surgery and developed it afterwards.

As people have been known to fall down dead with the brain issue I had, in their teens and early 20s, it seems quite likely to me that it started having effect back in 1986, i.e. when the first of my symptoms began - though nobody can tell me for sure as they didn't do the appropriate brain-scan to see it till 2020. Furthermore I find a number of case-histories on-line of people with the same tumour I had being misdiagnosed with psychiatric conditions.

I also have another theory as to the cause of my symptoms, based on the timing of their onset, but it's not something the medical profession accept as a possibility, and I can't make up my mind myself - I can see it does have a whiff of crankery about it...and yet the timing seems very suspect to me. Not mentioning it here as the last time I did a poster told me off for doing so, and I really don't like the fact that I wonder about it myself, it's such a dubious theory.

I have absolutely had all of those symptoms. Been to a million doctors who told me I was in perfect health. It was frustrating. The worst is when I feel like I am choking and short of breath. I went to the ER several times in the past for it, but they said I was fine and they sent me home. "I can't breath though!" But I was apparently fine. I think more research needs to be done on this often overlooked part of anxiety.

Long term anxiety has given me IBS type symptoms - frequent urination, an irritated bladder and bowel issues. Thankfully I don't have these symptoms 24/7 but I do have them several times a week.

*Black urine
Head and neck aches
IBS
GERD
Fast heart rate
Restlessness/pacing
Tiredness/exhaustion

I take Propranolol (a Beta Blocker) every day for anxiety. It slows my heart rate down and reduces high blood pressure which calms me down.

*Just kidding on that one :)

Hi
Can i please ask you what your gerd symptoms are, I've been back and forward at doctors seen a ent specialist, had endoscopy all clear but I'm suffering badly with gastric symptoms and thought it was gerd but don't seem to be getting anywhere with doctors.

Hi. The most common symptom that I deal with is acid reflux. Sometimes when I burp I bring up some digested food particles and liquids which have stomach acid mixed in the contents. It burns your esophagus (and can cause scaring there) and leaves a horrible taste in your mouth. It can also cause moderate to severe heartburn that requires anti-acid medication. I take an over-the-counter medicine called Prilosec which is also called a Proton Pump Inhibitor or PPI. I take it every day which counters the GERD symptoms from happening. There are no side effects from that drug that I know of. I hope that helps you. Let me know if you have any other questions. Take care.

By the way, the burps usually occur after eating a spicy meal like Mexican food or drinking something with acid in it like a Coke or an orange drink. And the heartburn can happen any time but usually at night when you are lying down.
