He clarified today that the 'multiple tumours' are two minute white spots in the spinal cord, and it is impossible to tell what they are: which could be either myelitis or 'could be lymphoma or histiocytic sarcoma'. The prognosis for the former is good, for the latter not so good.

The treatment for both is the same medication.

Fingers crossed.

I lost one of my dogs 3 months ago, I had to euthanize him due to complications of congestive heart failure-he was going downhill fast. I felt horrible and still feel badly, but I recognize now I did the most compassionate thing I could for him. He was suffering and you can't put a pet you love through that. We had 9 great years together.

I still have another dog, but he's 14 1/2 and has health issues. I'm not sure how much longer I'll have him. I'd hate the thought of losing another companion so soon, they were great company especially during the last 2 years of this pandemic. That's the downside of dogs and cats, they don't live as long as we do-their health starts to become an issue after 10-12 years or so. But, they give us so much companionship, love and friendship that we keep on putting ourselves into that situation. The alternative is to not own a pet so you won't be hurt when you lose them, but you miss out on all they bring. No easy answers, I guess.

Hi. She's arguably improving slightly as has been on high doses of medication. I have to update the vet on monday. He did also find a probable tumour on her adrenal gland, which, whilst operable, can't be done while on medication.

So sorry for your loss, I've lost two cats this year one to cancer the other HCM/heart failure.
It is heartbreaking, however we've made the right decision I feel.
Very upsetting time. Hope you enjoy lots of special time with your other dog.

Thanks Mayflower7, that is very kind of you. I hope you have peace and comfort now from having to lose two of your cat-companions in the last year. That must have been a very difficult time for you.

Do you have any pets currently? If not, any thoughts of acquiring another one?
