I have a family member that was diagnosed with schizophrenia many years ago. He was in Vietnam. My aunt tried so hard to get him the help that he needed, but he refused everyone's help. He would go to the VA hospital, but the doctors told us that this did not occur in Vietnam. My cousin will not talk about his ordeal there. His entire platoon was killed, and he was the only survivor. He talks strange and sometime with a different voice and tone. He always think some one is watching him. He shot himself in the leg, accidentally, because he felt that someone was following him. Well he finally lost his leg. Now he is taking his psy meds and drinking too. How do you deal with a person like this. He has not harmed anyone, and will not, but he talks out of his head.
