I self harm quite regularly and I've never had a scar hurt before, I injured myself about 5 months ago, it had to be steri stripped and glued, it healed ok but the scar is really painful, I've done it since then and had to have stitches and those scars don't hurt at all. Does anyone else experience painful scars or have any advice on how to stop it hurting?? Thank you

Mine really itch but I've never had to have stitches. Maybe go back to the dr if it's still hurting.

Hi and welcome to the forum! :welcome:
My scars ache from time to time, if the scars are fully healed (no red bits) i would rub some ibuprofen gel into them directly and that should take the pain away.
If there is red bits then it could be infected and ask your doctor to check them for you.
Hugs

countryside location England.
I got attacked by a dog early this year , the dog bit the back of my lower leg , the teeth went quite deep.

It left quite a scar but even though it has healed over I still get random pains from it and it does itch sometimes :(

Hi,
Chemists sell scar cream for healed wounds, ask a pharmacist if you feel comfortable.
Please see your dr if it is hurting a lot.
Do you have any support? Have you had any treatment for the self-harming like therapy?
Here to listen.
Take care
