Hi, I’m new to the forum. I suffer from overthinking, which leads to anxiety. I constantly overthink things daily, it has knocked my confidence and is slowly destroying my happiness. I keep trying to keep myself positive by saying to myself there are people worse off than me. But it doesn’t seem to work. I’ve also suffered from ocd for most of my life. My overthinking is seriously affecting my relationship, as I question everything including if she really loves me, even though she tells me she does. I fear it will eventually ruin a good thing. I just want to get back to being the fun, happy, confident lad I once was.

Hi and welcome!

I always thought it was the other way around -- Anxiety Disorder leads to excessive worry, catastrophizing, racing thoughts etc. Have you tried CBT?

It isn't an absolute cure, but a lot of people have found it helpful.

I overthink things that aren’t logical but still make myself anxious worrying about these thoughts 😣 I have tried CBT I had a few sessions and stopped due to both me and my therapist thinking I was ok. Now thinking about it, I maybe stopped to soon. I have also been contemplating medication.

One possible clue that it is a brain chemistry disorder and that you aren't doing this to yourself is if you frequently feel anxious for seemingly no reason. The mind starts trying to find something to be worried about, and as we all know, if you're looking for trouble, you can always find something wrong!

CBT helped me determine which worries and concerns were realistic and which ones were nonsense. It's one of those things that does take practice. I find it's a constant learning experience.

What are people’s opinions on medication, regarding my anxiety and overthinking?

thanks for that, I dont know !
I'm on medication and I think too much I think !
I had not thought of it like that before

I'm hoping to ' get all the thoughts out '
like writing them on forums
I have a therapist, I go to support groups,
post on a blog
and still there seem to be alot of thoughts going on

I guess I'm hoping to come to a clearing in the woods !
